Jul 12, 2023 3 minutes and 25 seconds

Sun, sea and sand...

Cyprus has the most blue flag-rated beaches in Europe, meaning almost anywhere you turn there’s a spectacular beach spot you can enjoy.

Some of the more popular beaches include Aphrodite’s Rock. Located just off the old road to Paphos, the beach is popular among tourists thanks to the legend that surrounds it. Legend has it that Aphrodite, Goddess of Love and Fertility once rose from the deep waters surrounding the rock… The water is choppy & the beach rocky with most people only willing to dip their feet in the waters, although the brave-hearted attempt to swim seven times around the rock, for good luck!

Another prominent beach location is Fig Tree Bay. Mainly known to the locals, the beach is located in Protaras and offers crystal clear waters and sandy beaches. Ideal for swimming and diving.

For those looking for something quieter and off the beaten track, Blue Lagoon is a must. Situated in Latchi this swimming location can only be accessed by boat or a 4×4 car and is guaranteed to take your breath away with its views.

Kykkos Monastery

Those looking for something more spiritual should visit Kykkos Monastery. Situated in the mountainous region of Marathasa Valley, the Monastery is the wealthiest and most lavish on the island and sits on a mountain peak at an altitude of 1.318 meters.

A truly spectacular sight, Kykkos Monastery was founded in 1100 and is dedicated to Panagia (the Virgin Mary). An interesting fact is that the first President of Cyprus, Archbishop Makarios III served there as a novice.

Nature trails

For the active folk out there, Cyprus offers some amazing nature trails to choose from whether you’re a beginner or at a more advanced level.

Popular choices are on the Akamas Peninsula as well as near Platres in the Troodos mountains. Each trail offers a different, but just as amazing scenery.

Skiing (Yes, skiing)

You heard us right! During winter months the island serves as a popular location for skiing enthusiasts.

The impressive Troodos range with its idyllic forests stretches across most of the western side of Cyprus and is not only popular during summer months as a cool getaway, but is a great spot for winter sports.

Cavo Greco

Cape Greco, also known as Cavo Greco (Greek cape) is located between the popular town resorts of Ayia Napa and Protaras.

The location is a National Forest Park and is very popular for its Sea Caves which serves as a great spot for wedding photos.

You can also explore a multitude of intriguing nature trails lined with pine trees and a diverse botanical richness. The area has warm sea temperatures and visibility reaching up to 40 meters and thus is also very popular among divers.

Limassol Promenade

Why not take a walk down Limassol Promenade after your dinner to enjoy the stunning views of the city?

Popular by young and old, Limassol Promenade is a newly renovated park right on the banks of the Mediterranean.

Covered in palm trees, sculptures, grass areas, paved paths and decks going over the sea, the walk is a great way to spend an evening.

Visit one of the traditional Cypriot Villages

In need of a cultural outing? Cypriots are known for their rich culture and traditions and you can experience the full swing of it in one of the many Cypriot villages.

The two villages worth noting are Lefkara and Omodos Village.

Get lost in Lefkara’s numerous little streets or do some souvenir shopping. Known for its traditional handicrafts of lace embroidery and filigree silver, Lefkara Handicraft Centre offers visitors a chance to watch the lace and silver being made in front of their eyes.

Surrounded by tall mountaintops, Omodos Village is located in the geographical region of the wine-making villages. Vines and various fruit trees such as apple, plum, pear, peach and apricot trees cultivate in the region. Savour a traditional meze, taste some regional wine and enjoy what Cyprus has to offer.
